BBS Copper Marans Hatching eggs

This year we decided to combine our black copper and BBS Copper Marans pens. This way we can offer different feather colored birds instead of just black. I am happy to say that our splash and blue hens will lay eggs as dark as Black Copper hens and range 6-8 on the Marans color chart. Chicks will hatch black, splash and blue. All of the breeders in the pens were hatched from 7 -8 color eggs. These are large beautifully feathered birds with a calm mellow personalities that would make a great addition to any flock! Some hens add speckles and blooms to make eggs super special! Our flock is bred for egg color mostly, not SOP, but I take it into consideration when selecting breeders. I also select for type and size in my breeding pens.

Marans egg color tends to change through the laying cycle. Eggs that were an 8 in March, can look like a 6 in August. We cannot just send the darkest or all purple eggs to you, you will receive a range of colors that our flock lays. 
I am proud to say that I will send out the darkest eggs to our customers, no gatekeeping on our Farm!
Even though a hen hatches from a #8 egg, there is no guarantee she will lay as dark as her mother.
